Automatic Systems has a longstanding expertise in the development, manufacturing and sale of rising barriers. The company is proud to announce the launch of the universal rising barrier under the product code BL 229, which combines the functionalities of a number of different existing barriers in One Model. Automatic Systems is thus making a giant leap in product standardisation, simplification and reduced delivery times.
"The challenge represented a vast amount of engineering adaptation and fine-tuning due to the diversity and specification of existing barriers in terms of housing sizes, rising arms lengths and construction, programmable control unit, traction/compression principles, etc." said Automatic Systems Marketing Director, Jean-Pierre Leleu.
Since 1969, Automatic Systems has developed 30 different models of rising barriers, equipped with short, medium or long range arms, rigid or flexible skirts, electromechanical or electromagnetic locking tips, flashing lights, stop signs, and many other options. All of them are the result of the experience and a thorough knowledge of the products. Automatic Systems was the first company to introduce the drive mechanism using a crankshaft-rod device in its rising barriers. The system is still unsurpassed today. It is worth mentioning that in 35 years the company has manufactured over 60,000 rising barriers sold in more than 15 countries.
Strength, reliability, efficiency, providing security and safety for users, are the keywords associated with Automatic Systems and its products. Always prompt to adopt new technologies, the company has upgraded its product line of rising barriers by adding innovative components and characteristics that significantly improve the product functions.
While preserving the fundamentals and benefits of the drive system, all the components have been revamped in terms of efficiency. No more Pulleys and no more Belts. The crankshaft-rod drive mechanism ensures fast movements, with progressively damped acceleration and deceleration. Average open/close cycles are much shorter with the BL 229. Moreover the synergy between the gearbox and the variable-speed controller produces ever more fluid and silent movements of the barrier, creating an almost "ballet dancer like" effect.
The new AS 1320 control board provides a lot of configurable parameters, an error tracking system through multiple languages and a very user-friendly interface. Manipulations based on a DIP-switch system definitely belong to the past. In its standard version, the new logic unit covers more than 95% of the usual rising barrier functions, including open and closing commands, stop, security management by loop detection or photocell, arm lighting commands, and many more.
The single-phase electrical power supply covers all needs. On-board power supply delivering 2.5A at 24 VDC, which can accommodate an electromagnetic locking tip, flashing lights and up to 4 lamps on the barrier arm, all working together or other similar configurations.
A major improvement of this unique rising barrier is the rationalisation of components and housing. The barrier can be readily adapted for left or right hand operation, short or long arm applications, all due to the cleverly designed drive shaft assembly, and so leading to shorter manufacturing/delivery times, and greater flexibility on sites, with less technical assistance. The new rising barrier can accommodate arms from 2 to 6 metres. Its speed is adjustable depending on the final application. A large range of additional accessories can equipped the BL229 to comply with the main objective: "One model…All applications"
Special attention has been paid to reducing the number of components, with a resulting beneficial impact on maintenance and spare parts. The new BL 229 rising barrier is built to resist extreme weather, with extreme climatic conditions in some parts of the world causing major difficulties. Violent winds, sub-zero temperatures, snow and rain are very challenging for outdoor equipment manufacturers.
We have now to focus on one of Automatic Systems strongest mottos: "the users’ safety". The barrier has its own intrinsic automatic opening mode. In case of power supply failure, it will automatically open (if required). After problem is solved, the system will automatically reset without loss of the selected parameters. A manual hand wind facility is included to operate the barrier, during power or electronic control failure. The patented ‘arm swing-off device’ reduces the risk of severe damage to vehicles if crashing into the arm in the correct direction, and also preserves the integrity of the arm, allowing it to be re-engaged after the impact.
Last but to least and not the less important, the smooth design of the new BL229 will easily merge the landscape. Traditional and modern, the BL229 aesthetic will satisfy every customer. Finally, another benefit of the new BL 229 is the low noise emissions, vitally important in the noise-polluted society. With all these innovative features employed in rising barrier manufacture, Automatic Systems offers to the market an outstanding new product geared towards customer satisfaction.
