Exhaust Oxygen (O2) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) concentrations of multiple bioreactor units are continuously monitored and analyzed. The Off-Gas-Analyzer has 8 sensors providing simultaneously, precise key information on the metabolic state of a culture.
An integrated mass flow sensor allows the calculation of the respiratory quotient (RQ), the oxygen transfer rate (OTR) and the carbon dioxide transfer rate (CTR), displayed by the module in real time. Monitoring changes in gas concentration can indicate limitations, which may be caused by insufficient oxygen and/or substrate supply. Important and significant metabolic shifts are recognized and assist with the development of customized induction or feeding strategies.
Users of DASGIP systems do not have to worry about too many technical details. It is like using a camera, where the "Auto-Focus" takes care of focusing, Users are free to concentrate on their cultures. The GA4 enhances DASGIP Systems into efficient tools for cell characterization, process development and many more applications. The Off-Gas-Analyzer turns DASGIP Systems into integrated miniature bioreactor suites, requiring only 2 square meters of bench space. Like all other DASGIP modules, the GA4 integrates seamlessly into any DASGIP System. With its modular design, it can also be adapted to any existing bioreactor systems to use as a stand-alone analyzer.
This new module as well as a revolutionary 48-fold parallel bioprocessing system, which can be fully automated by a liquid-handling system will be shown at BioTechnica 2005 in Hanover, Germany Hall 2, stand F36.
