Velox cameras are the perfect IR measurement instrument for imaging fast processes (high speed thermography). With a maximum pixel rate of 80 Mpixels/s they reach an effective image data rate of 110 Mbytes/s (58 Mpixels/s). This is an unrivalled value for infrared cameras. Velox cameras are equipped with a Stirling-cooled mercury cadmium telluride (MCT) focal plane array (FPA) detector.
All Velox cameras are equipped with the common Camera Link interface. For radiometric applications optional temperature sensors are integrated.
The Velox 65k SM pro out of the Velox series is a high-performance infrared camera which is suitable for the measurement of the fastest events (high speed IR imaging). Thanks to its “integrate-while-read” mode it has very short dead times between subsequent frames. It permits a fullframe rate or fullframe frequency of 885 Hz and subframe rates of up to 30 kHz. The camera features very high sensitivity and an excellent thermal resolution (NETD) of 10 mK.
The spectral extension with the range between 1.5 µm and 3.4 µm improves the sensitivity of the IR camera at high object temperatures. For laboratory use the extended spectral range has advantages over normal MWIR cameras (3.4 µm to 5 µm).
As a special feature, the Velox 65k SM pro has an MIO interface for digitizing external analog signals with high precision. This permits to perform “self tuning” lock-in measurements and thermoelastic stress analysis (TSA). Moreover, with the MIO interface it is possible to generate digital trigger and lock-in reference signals which can be used for synchronized control of external devices. Additional trigger inputs are used for triggering the integration time or for resetting the camera-internal frame counter.
