New design of retro-reflective photoelectric sensors

The new generation of PRK 46B retro-reflective photoelectric sensors from Leuze electronic are not only impressive because of their price-performance ratio. They also offer the user exceptional performance and reliability combined with ease of handling.

The new PRK 46B retro-reflective photoelectric sensors are available for the most important applications in transportation and warehousing technology in the form of a "power package" and a version offering a particularly high degree of functional reliability. The "power package" models are characterised by a long range of 18 m and extremely high performance reserves. They therefore also react in conjunction with small, badly aligned reflectors or when reflectors are dirty. Their long range makes them especially suitable for applications such as monitoring gaps in high-bay warehouses.
The "reliable workhorse" version of the PRK 46B retro-reflection photoelectric sensor is functionally reliable over more moderate distances (10 m), for example for roller conveyors, and supplies reliable signals even with depolarising media like shrink-wrapped pallets.

A further superb feature is the active suppression of external and spurious light sources using the A2LS (Active Ambient Light Suppression) system. Using this system, the optical sensors recognise any incident stray light and differentiate between their own sensor signal and the source of the interference. If an interference signal is recognised near to the frequency or phase range of the sensor signal, the phase length and frequency of the sensor signal is automatically changed within an extremely short reaction time. This reduces susceptibility to errors caused by pulsed light sources, such as for example from energy saving bulbs, to a minimum.

The so-called "brightVision® technology makes it easier to handle the sensors. A very bright, clearly visible light spot helps when aligning the equipment and bright indicator diodes which can be seen from all sides make the equipment easy to operate. An additional green LED indicates operational readiness, thus allowing full control. A further feature is the Ultra-Lock™ fast-action coupling. Its positive locking action ensures a reliable electrical contact and scope for rapid contacting, even in assembly situations where space is limited.
