Strain Gauge Measurement Engineering

Measurement with strain gauges is a standard measurement procedure in test engineering. Strain gauges determine mechanical stress and derivative quantities such as force, pressure or torque. The strain gauge is a part of many sensors and transducers. Examples include fatigue testing and service life tests of individual components such as metal plates and tubes, or safety-related components such as vehicle axes or airfoils, all the way to structure analysis of large systems like whole vehicles or buildings.

The New Generation of Strain Gauge Measurement Amplifiers
Taking measurements with wire strain gauges requires reliable amplifier technology for capturing and processing the signals which the strain gauges deliver. A new family of digital strain gauge amplifiers developed for this purpose digitalizes the analog signals from strain gauge bridge circuits at high speed and resolution. This is accomplished according to the Sigma-Delta procedure without loss of data. ...Read more
