Portable System
The Calkit portable airfield lighting system is manufactured by Metalite Aviation Lighting and is designed for runway use at airports and remote airstrips in support of emergency and temporary air operations.
The trailer, which ensures rapid deployment, contains 66 runway or taxiway edge lights (CORELs). These meet photometric standards for portable lighting recommended by ICAO and are also certified by the FAA.
The standard COREL provides a minimum of 16 hours light output between charges ensuring that light output will be available through the longest of nights. A new variant of the COREL, which incorporates LED technology, provides over 40 hours use between charges allowing the systems deployment for many nights at a time. For ease of operation lights can be controlled manually, remotely or by photocell.
When charging is necessary a simple drop in charging system within the trailer recharges all of the lights simultaneously within eight hours.
