The French Group Rubis-Precis is able to offer many components in synthetic Sapphire according to customer's designs. Sapphire properties include high hardness (1,800 Vickers – second only to diamond), resistance to acids and alkalis, stability at high temperatures (2000 °C), good electrical insulation, and optical transmission in visible, ultra-violet and infra-red (from 0.2–5 microns). It is also a bio-compatible material. There are many industrial applications of Sapphire including windows, lenses and balls for optics and fibre-optic, ultra high vacuum, high pressure and medical devices. Tubes, cylinders, rods and many other types of precision components for lasers , sensors and scientific instruments, nuclear, chemical industries, R&D laboratories.
