Weidmüller is now offering a stainless-steel version of its SAI distributor with a Profibus DP interface. Made of V4A brushed stainless steel, the housing is designed to offer the high protection rating IP 69k. That means the distributor is eminently suitable for protecting sensitive technology in areas in and around machines or systems where stringent demands are placed on hygiene. Stainless steel housings are top of the wish list when the spec sheet includes high EMC and corrosion protection demands or hygiene requirements must be taken into consideration. With their robust and smooth surfaces providing negative external influences very little surface to attack, stainless steel housings protect against aggressive cleaning agents or the effects of high-pressure cleaners. Stainless steel SAI distributors with Profibus DP interface are available with eight input/output channels. The ports 1, 3, 5 and 7 are designed as inputs, the ports 2, 4, 6 und 8 as outputs. Both the housing and the M12 rings are made of stainless steel; M12 plug-in connectors made from stainless steel are also available on request. The housing is raised 0.5 cm to ensure that the underside gets cleaned during cleaning procedures.
Boasting dimensions of 65 x 60 x 240 mm (HxWxD), the SAI stainless steel distributors are compactly designed. Total current is max. 8 A; the SAI distributor is equipped with two M12 sockets to connect the power supply (24 V). The module is also equipped with four LEDs providing extensive visual control options. A dual-coloured LED indicates the Profibus operating status. Red signals that no master is available or could not be found. Green indicates an active Profibus connection and that data exchange is successfully taking place. Three LEDs provide the user with information about the power supply. A dual-coloured function indicator (UQ) indicates that the output is operating correctly when the LED lights up green – power is being applied; it lights up red to indicate a short-circuit. The dual-coloured sensor for voltage indication (green/red) indicates when too much current is flowing via a red LED. Correct power supply (UI) is indicated by means of a green LED. The module voltage (UL) is indicated via a green LED.
Each M12 connection on the stainless steel SAI distributor is fitted with two yellow LEDs. These indicate if both I/Os are active. The shielded, B-coded 5-pole M12 female connectors are assigned as follows: PIN1 = 24V, PIN2 = 2. I/O, PIN3 = GND, PIN 4 = 1. I/O, PIN 5 = PE.
Weidmüller can also supply customer-specific stainless steel versions of its SAI distributors on request.
