Communicating I/Os

With the new S500 modules ABB STOTZ-KONTAKT offers a field-bus-neutral I/O system with a simple connection to different field buses by choice of the appropriate FBP field bus plug. The compact FBP bus module has 16 I/Os with only 67.5 mm width and can be extended with up to 7 modules with 32 channels per module on 240 digital I/Os in maximum. Also a mixed structure of analog and digital modules is possible. With its extensive diagnostic possibilities, its fast internal data exchange and its various combination options the S500 offers an efficient configuration adapted to the respective customer requirements.

As a result of the compact housing and the depth of only 75 mm a significant space saving in the switchgear cabinet arises. The simple assembly takes place on DIN rail or with bolt mounting. The connection of the sensors and actuators happens alternatively with screw or spring clamps and is thereby by the saving of additional clamps fast and user friendly.

The high flexibility of the S500 of system results apart from the various combination options and bus-independent communication over FBP field bus plug also from the pluggable modules. This allows a fast module change without interference in the wiring and thus an adjustment of the configuration also to future requirements.
