Hot Protection

The patented Septron series from the Christ Water Tech-nology Group has now been supplemented with an electro-deionisation module for high flow rates which can be sanitised with hot water. The SMH 3000 operates at an output of 2,500 to 3,300 l/h with a pressure loss of 1.5 to 2.5 bar. It can be sanitised at a temperature of more than 80 °C in a period of 30 minutes. Compared with conventional EDI modules, the special hydrodynamic design of the SMH 3000 permits a higher sanitisation flow rate of up to 70 per cent of the ultrapure water output with a pressure drop of 1 bar. The resulting high flow rates within the module ensure a more uniform temperature distribution and efficient deactivation of germs throughout the module. In normal operating mode, the design also ensures a continuous, turbulent flow which reliably prevents the growth of microbiological organisms. For this reason, only periodic heating phases are necessary.

Even under the cyclical conditions of cold-water opera-tion followed by hot-water treatment, the stainlesssteel design of the SMH 3000 guarantees leak-free operation. The hydraulic connections are also made of stainless steel and designed as clamp connections (DN 32) which comply with all pharmaceutical requirements. Just like all other modules of the Septron series, the SMH 3000 offer, as component parts of the compact Osmotron system, a water conversion efficiency of up to 98 per cent and a voltage drop of not more than 100 V. With conductivity values of <0.1 µs/cm, TOC values of <50 ppb and the complete removal of CO2 and SiO2, the generated ultrapure water easily complies with the requirements of the American and European Pharmacopoeia.
