Analog Temperature and Voltage Measurement for In-Vehicle Testing and the Test Bench

With its VS 6xx modules Vector Informatik is expanding its product line to include analog modules for precise measurement of voltages and temperatures. This provides the measurement and application tool CANape Graph with powerful measurement equipment modules to help solve the many tasks of in-vehicle and test bench testing.

The VS 6xx measurement modules include the VS 610 for analog voltages, the VS 620 for temperatures and the combination VS 650 module for analog voltages and tem-peratures. Up to six different VS 6xx modules may be connected to a measurement system via the VS 600 syn-chronization and power supply module. If more than six modules are needed for a measurement task, a bank of measurement modules can be implemented utilizing addi-tional VS 600s.

Each measurement module acquires analog voltages or sig-nals or outputs of temperature sensors over 16 separate channels which are electrically isolated from one an-other and from the supply voltage. This results in a high global level of common mode rejection. Extremely precise measurement results are achieved due to the 16-bit and 21-bit resolutions.

All modules and their measurement channels are time-synchronized via the VS 600. With the measurement and application tool CANape Graph measurement system opera-tion is time-stable with an accuracy on the order of mi-croseconds. This prevents a phase shift of signals, and correct assignment of data to their acquisition times is assured at all times.

Data transfer between modules and to the PC is run over Ethernet at 10 MBit/s with the TCP/IP protocol. Further-more, the module can detect a disconnect from the PC and automatically switches to Standby mode.
A well-designed cable concept ensures that modules con-nections are simple, have the correct polarity, and are easy-to-understand.
