Düsseldorf International, Germany's third largest airport, has chosen Barco's software solution ARCAS (Airside Slot Capacity Assistant) integrated with the e-conX slot optimization plug-in to enhance its runway utilization. The airport has taken this step to further improve the slot consulting services towards the airlines.
The choice for ARCAS with e-conX was made because of its integrated capabilities of graphical visualization, optimization and analysis of flight schedules. ARCAS will be used to detect available slots in accordance with the coordinated schedule information and airport slot constraints. The system supports analysis of airline slot requests and allows visualization of free slots for active marketing. This includes support for integration of flights compiled within a waiting list.
Barco's ARCAS is a very efficient and modular software system designed for flight schedule processing, slot analysis and simulation, and for the visualization and airport resource utilization. The system has been developed in cooperation with Fraport AG for Frankfurt Int. Airport, Germany's largest airport, where it has been successfully in operation since June 2002. ARCAS/e-conX uses time variances and priorities to allow for a step-by-step optimization process in order to ideally combine user experience with mathematical models.
Integration of Barco's ARCAS at Düsseldorf International is scheduled beginning of November.
