TDI Sensors

Fairchild Imaging now provides its TDI sensors in a new customized package, which makes these high end sensors much more affordable. They do not have one single photosensoric line, but several of them lying next to each other. The charge packages are moved across the image plane synchronously to the object to be scanned. Therefore,
despite of the movement of the object, always the same part of object is scanned, so the integration time is multiplied by the number of TDI stages. Because of this, TDI-
sensors provide many advantages compared to standard linear sensors. Reduction of noise and higher sensitivity can be an advantage for applications with quickly moving objects, if the exposition times are too short for normal linear sensors.
