Absolute encoders for Ethernet Powerlink networks
FRABA POSITAL introduces the first absolute rotary encoder with an integrated Ethernet Powerlink interface. This new generation of the proven OPTOCODE series is designed to operate in highly dynamic applications like mainshafts (when minimal jitter on the microsecond-level is essential)
or when high bandwidth is required.
Ruggedly designed and equipped with standardized M12 plugs, the encoders can be employed even under difficult environmental conditions. Due to its integrated 3-port repeater, the well-established and cost-effective linear in-line wiring installation can be maintained, while other topologies can also be used. Three LEDs serve to show the Powerlink device status and Ethernet
network diagnosis indications (link, collision, receive).
The device IP address is set by two turn switches in the connection cap. The main encoder unit can be easily separated from the connection cap, allowing encoder replacement without any configuration effort. Additionally, a low-cost model without connection cap is available in reduced overall size.
In this case, configuration is set via Powerlink telegrams or via an integrated webserver which allows direct graphical parameterization of encoder settings.
Firmware updates may be uploaded by FTP while device parameters can be sent out as SMTP e-mails.
