New Maintenance Free JVC VR-601U DVR

The new maintenance free VR-601U Digital Video Recorder from JVC uses hard disk drives rather than VCR tapes to record and store digital video images. The VR-601U is a single channel digital video recorder, equipped with two Hard Disk Drive (HDD) compartments. One HDD is pre-installed; the second can be added for expansion or hot swapping removable disks, thereby making it easy to maintain multiple HDDs depending on the application. This digital video recorder is a plug and play replacement for time lapse VCRs and is compatible with most multiplexers available on the market today. Its flexible digital image archiving allows for relaxation rather than the worry of heads to clean or degrading tapes. Remote control viewing can be controlled via the network with the VR-601U via an RS-232 or RS-485 connection.

The VR-601U records in MJPEG picture compression, for high quality picture by picture playback. Recorded images can be searched for in different modes such as time, date and event or alarm list. Its jog and shuttle functions allow for forward or reverse playback at faster or slower speeds. Manual recording allows for recording when the VR-601U is in live display mode. A timer recording can be set to two different time periods each day or on a weekly basis to program the VR-601 to turn on or off at the specific times. Alarm recording allows the recorder to activate the programmed pre/post alarm calling. Externally triggered recording allows for the recording function to be turned on or off from an external source using an alarm.
