Munich Airport is equipping 70 buses in its transport service fleet with mobile computers from DLoG GmbH. Germany's second biggest airport has decided to use these DNeT industrial PCs to optimize its passenger and staff transport system. With these terminals, bus drivers have online contact with the deployment planning department using wireless data communication. The decision in favour of the Olching specialists for logistics solutions was made following a detailed selection process: DLoG won because of its modern technology such as the IEEE802.11B broadband standard, its flexiblity with regard to upgrades and expansion, and its ease of use. The new DLoG computers will help to guarantee the efficiency of processes in the transport service at Munich Airport.
For, with the constant increase in the number of passengers and of flight movements, together with the airlines' new and higher quality standards, the deployment planning department and the bus drivers are always being faced with new challenges. The mobile industrial PCs from DLoG replace an old narrow-band solution, which had become inadequate for the purpose. With the new DNeT IPCs, drivers and deployment control staff can carry on a permanent online dialogue. The deployment planning department now has up-to-the-minute information about the current status of a driver and his vehicle. This means that the bus can be redeployed before the current job is completed, thus making enormous time savings and ensuring maximum flexibility. The optimized bus deployment system will result in shorter response times and speedier processes.
