Headsets Win Lufthansa Support

Lufthansa Systems is now equipping all personnel charged with preparing and clearing aircraft for take-off with the new Telex Groundcom Headset 2002. Over the next three years, all the 3,500 SWQ headsets currently in use will be replaced by the new model. It's a familiar scene: minutes before take-off, a plane is waiting in the service area. A technician is standing in front of the nose of the aircraft. He is wearing a headset connected via a long cable to the cockpit and the pilots. Important information is being exchanged. Despite the fact that the plane's engines may be running and the noise level extremely high, on an airport apron the flawless exchange of information is imperative.

This means that extreme demands are placed on the equipment used. Demands, fortunately, that the Groundcom Headset 2002 from Telex is more than capable of satisfying. Passive attenuation is the key to the combination of maximum noise protection, high wearer comfort and optimal speech intelligibility that are the hallmarks of the Groundcom Headset 2002. On the lookout for a better headset, Lufthansa Systems first approached Telex Communications at the end of 2000 to ask what new products were in the pipeline. They were pleased with what they heard. The company's professionalism impressed the decision makers at Lufthansa Systems as did its swiftness to understand and come up with technical solutions to Lufthansa's special needs. Commented Klaus-Dieter Penner of the Sales Support department of Lufthansa's Voice Integration Products Division: "The safety requirements placed on such headsets are extremely stringent. After comprehensive comparisons and technical examinations, we decided in favour of the Telex model. What most convinced us were Telex's experience and expertise as well as the fact that here in Germany we would be able to deal directly with the firm's European headquarters."

The outlook for companies over the next few years is clear: pressure of costs, fast reaction times and customer-oriented service will continue to play a decisive role in the success or failure of enterprises. It is essential, then, to have a telecommunications infrastructure capable of meeting the demands of the modern age. In December 2002, series production of solutions tailored to the interests and requirements of users will commence and the first devices begin shipping punctually at the beginning of the year 2003. Lufthansa will not be the only company using the Groundcom Headset 2002. Telex and Lufthansa Systems have decided to market the new headsets jointly, cooperating as partners in the sale to other airlines and airports. Two powerful companies with a powerful product - success is programmed into the equation.
