Cytoplasmic Labelling

Molecular Probes has introduced new CellTrace calcein red-orange AM, which provides an ideal long-wavelength alternative to green-fluorescent calcein AM for cytoplasmic labelling. With excitation/emission maxima of 577/595 nm, its fluorescence is well separated from that of both green fluorophores and calcein blue AM. The cell-permeant dye is well-retained by live cells possessing intact plasma membranes. Consequently it is a useful alternative to
calcein AM in assays of cell viability. The fluorescent signal is
easily detected by flow cytometry, microscopy and fluorometry.
