Skylotec GmbH: Airbag Waistcoat

According to a statistical survey by the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health for the period from 2009 to 2015, around 50 percent of all fatal fall accidents occurred from a height of less than five metres. For this reason Skylotec has developed the Skyvest in cooperation with Minerva-AS GmbH.

It is equipped with an intelligent patented system, its core is a sensor-controlled airbag. This reduces the forces acting on the back in the event of a fall by at least 40 percent. If a fall requires the airbag to be deployed, it inflates within 0.2 seconds. The Skyvest has been certified by the German Monitoring Institute TÜV as personal protective equipment (PPE). The gas cartridge that fills the airbag with CO₂ can also be replaced with a new one.
