The development of nano-ex was carried out as a worst-case approach: First, decontamination was tested with nanoparticles that penetrate the skin particularly easily and are especially problematic to remove (4 nm CdSe nanoparticles). In a second, complementary step, the most commonly used nanoparticles were tested. For all these particle types, a decontamination performance of over 99% was found.
The formulation: the gel's mode of action results from the interaction of three main components: Polyethylene glycol (PEG), activated carbon and layered silicates.
nano-ex is offered in tubes equipped with a sponge applicator. The sponge can be used to rub the gel onto the contaminated skin and then rinse it off. This means that it can be used without the need for any other aids. In addition, the product design ensures that secondary contamination is avoided.
