Small Area Solar Simulators for PV Cell Researchers

Oriel Instruments’ new series of LCS-100 solar simulators has been designed for PV cell researchers requiring the performance of a certified system over a small area of illumination. The 1.5 x 1.5 inch (38 x 38 mm) simulators meet Class ABB as defined by ASTM, IEC and JIS standards. The compact design features an integrated power supply, ignitor, homogenizer and lamp housing.

The LCS-100 Series generates over 1 sun irradiance with an AM1.5G filter. As the lamp ages, the attenuator can be opened to allow continued 1 sun operation over the entire 1,000 hours of the lamp’s lifetime. Researchers requiring partial sun irradiance can simply dial down the attenuator to the desired irradiance level.
