OBIS Galaxy ? Plug & Play Fiber Combiner for Multi-Laser Applications

The OBIS Galaxy from Coherent is a revolutionary compact module that combines up to eight different fiber-coupled lasers into one single-mode polarized output fiber.
It is the only combiner to provide true plug and play functionality; adding, removing, or replacing a laser simply requires inserting or removing a FC/UFC connector from one of the designated sockets.  Its unique advantages will benefit laboratory R&D applications, microscope and OEM instrument builders, and instrument end users.

Simple Rugged and ReliableThe OBIS Galaxy uses a novel, patent-pending optical beam combining method with a minimum number of optics and with no electronics or moving parts.  Its rugged reliability is validated by an extensive protocol of thermal cycling and mechanical stress/shock testing.  These accelerated life tests confirm fiber coupling is always maintained over the entire 10-40°C operating range, even after repeated connect-interconnects.  Galaxy OBIS also incorporates proprietary Coherent fiber which eliminates the issue of early facet failure typically encountered when using fiber-coupled lasers. This fiber also provides a constant NA over the full wavelength range.
Flexible and UniversalOBIS Galaxy supports the use of up to eight different wavelengths from 405 to 640 nm.  It is ideal for use with Coherent OBIS FP lasers, but also supports fiber-coupled lasers from other manufacturers (if performance compliant) via an optional fiber adapter cable.
