3A certification with CIP & EHEDG

Watson-Marlow developed a stainless steel bearing unit as standard for its SPS sinusoidal pumps. This new stainless steel bearing block clearly separates the pump compartment from the bearing unit. It is suitable for pumps used where hygiene is of particular importance: the food and beverage industry and in the cosmetics industry. The specially developed gap between the wet unit and the drive unit prevents, for example, the product from being contaminated with oil from the bearing. If the dynamic seal leaks when the pump is in use, the leak is quickly located, as the leaking substance can flow freely through the gap.

The bearing unit can now be replaced easily as a complete unit if required; resulting in much less maintenance work, meaning that the pump is quickly operational again. It is easy to replace the old coated cast iron unit with the new stainless steel bearing unit without making any modifications. The base can be replaced using the fixing points on the pump and pedestal. This is a quicker and easier alternative way of changing the bearing unit. It is thanks to the new stainless steel bearing block that the pump has now also been upgraded to 3A certification with CIP.

Further advantages of the new generation pump include:

  • improved cleaning
  • a wider variety of rinse options, which can be changed quickly and easily
  • a pump base that can be rotated by 180° if required
  • easier to empty residues from the pump housing by turning the nozzle to the six o’clock position.
