Redundant micropulse transducer BTL 7

With the new BTL 7 redundant micropulse transducer, Balluff provides a contactless and absolute position measuring system that is freely configurable in a robust all-metal housing. Up to three independent measurement sections and three independent electronics systems are compactly packaged in a rod with IP 67 degree of protection. Redundant signal generation guarantees a high degree of reliability, which is then also reflected in its certi-fication by the Germanischer Lloyd society.

Existing systems can also be easily retrofitted without having to change the machine concept, and the design engineer has flexibility to choose between 2 times or 3 times redundancy. Diagnostics LEDs then display the respective active channels so that defective channels can be identified directly on site.

The redundant BTL 7, with a resolution and repeat accuracy of 0.005 mm, is especially suitable for applications in which position information is measured directly in the pressure range of, for example, hydraulic cylinders at pressures of up to 600 bars, and increased reliability requirements must be satisfied. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the new redundant rod with a measuring range from 25 to 2000 mm can also easily replace already installed, non-redundant position measuring systems. In many cases, this is possible without prior modifications to the actuating drives and settings. For this purpose, the same threads/protective tubes are available as with the BTL 5 micropulse transducer. To replace such rod transducers, the BTL 7 is available in the most common designs.

Commissioning is simple, quick and practical: the start point and endpoint can be adjusted conveniently across the entire measuring range using a computer. And even complex configurations can be undertaken easily and securely. In this process, parameter sets can be saved and loaded. Documentation of setting parameters is possible.
