Latheta LCT-200 is the second generation mobile micro-CT scanner from Hitachi-Aloka. Designed for small animals up to 1.5 kg, it allows the automatic in vivo quantification of subcutaneous and visceral fat. In addition, the fat content of liver and the notoriously hard to visualize and quantitate brown fat tissue (BAT), can also be determined in vivo.
Furthermore, the scanner can also acquire extremely clear images of the heart and lungs even when implants or stents are present. During the scanning process, the CT images are displayed real time on the screen for review. The scanner is compact and portable, occupying a footprint of about one square meter and requires no special facilities for operation.
