8-Channel DeCapper

Thermo Fisher Scientific announced a new 8-Channel Decapper for handheld capping and decapping of multiple tubes in a 96-well microplate footprint. With the ability to remove and replace screw caps with precision and ease, the time-consuming task of manually capping and de-capping, as well as the risk of repetitive strain injury (RSI), are eliminated.

This handheld decapper is ideal for any laboratory requiring faster, uniform capping that doesn’t necessitate a fully-automated system. In combination with the use of a multichannel pipette, sample processing is effectively streamlined to increase efficiency. The device is capable of uncapping a column of eight screw-top tubes in four seconds, enabling researchers to increase the speed of access to samples and their return to storage.
