Certified LDEV-free

Lactate dehydrogenase-elevating virus (LDEV) is one of the biggest threads for mouse breeding facilities. The virus infects macrophages and influences the immune response, leading to erroneous results in transgenic or knock-out animals. The virus does not infect any other species than mouse, nor does it infect other cells than macrophages. Purified extracellular matrix products are usually sourced from a tumor cell line (Engelbreth-Holm-Swarm Tumor), which is propagated in mice. BD Biosciences is able to deliver all variants of BD Matrigel Basement Membrane Matrix from a guaranteed LDEV-free tumor source. This makes it suited for all in vivo applications in mice, in particular in tumor research (e.g. the Matrigel Plug Assay).
