ACHEMA Highlight: The patented FENTOX® process

EISENMANN Environmental Technology will once again present the complete range under the headings "Water/Waste water", "Waste" and "Exhaust air" at booth V 31 in Hall 9.1. However, the exhibits will clearly focus on solutions for the chemical industry.

The patented FENTOX® process, for example, will be presented in the Water/Waste water sector. This process of purifying waste water by oxidation has already proved its value in practice: problematical or bacteriotoxical pollutants can be detoxified, made biodegradable or eliminated completely before the effluent is discharged into a biological waste water treatment system. This significant means of effectively and economically eliminating COD, AOX and toxicity problems will also be the subject of a lecture at the ACHEMA Congress. The EISENMANN waste water treatment range of relevance for the chemical industry naturally also includes other innovative detail solutions (phosphate precipitation to ensure compliance with 2 mg/l, fluoride minimization and many others), as well as complete installations for physico-chemical purification of waste water (photograph), biological waste water treatment plants, ion exchanger plants and the membrane technology which is generally becoming more and more important. Depending on the particular case in question, the contractual scope can even include a complete turn-key system.

In the Waste sector, EISENMANN supplies thermal plants for recycling waste as a secondary energy supply or secondary raw material, as well as for highly efficient and environmentally beneficial disposal of every type of waste or production residue – in a concept tailored to the specific requirements of the particular case. Two types of systems are preferred for the chemical and allied industries (pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals). The single chamber rotary kiln, either as an all-steel version or with brick lining, is used for solid and paste-like materials, such as sludge laden with chemicals or minerals. Any additionally occurring liquids are also injected into the kiln. A high-turbulence reactor known as the "Turaktor" is used for exclusively disposing of liquids (such as toxic liquid residues or highly polluted solvents), as well as suspensions, pollutant gases and dusts. The Turaktor has also proved its practical value in the reactivation of catalytic converters and the recovery of precious metals. All thermal plants built by EISENMANN can be equipped with customized heat recovery systems as required.

The Exhaust air sector will give a practically oriented presentation of energy-efficient exhaust air purification systems. Regenerative thermal oxidation has successfully been used for many years by the target groups in the chemical industry for their predominantly large-volume exhaust air streams with low pollutant loads (and frequently lacking heat demand!). EISENMANN now presents a revised and even more advantageous concept of the RTO. Use of an adsorption wheel (ADW) to minimize and concentrate the exhaust air stream to be eliminated (with subsequent incineration by either recuperative or regenerative thermal oxidation) is an alternative worth considering (also) for this target group. EISENMANN's experience has shown that even more energy-efficient solutions can be found in this way, depending on the case in question.
