Avantium Technologies launches a new system to study crystallization processes for the pharmaceutical industry. It will be marketed under the name Crystalline, and has been designed to address the need in the pharma industry to learn as much as possible about a drug candidate early in the development cycle. The system enables easy access for scientists to valuable information on drug candidates, when only a limited amount of sample is available. Bench chemists can use in situ analytics, on a milliliter scale: visualization through the vial (onboard cameras and particle analysis software) and real time Raman spectroscopy. The system can be customized, combining turbidity information with a parallel particle viewer or with real time Raman capabilities, shedding light on chemical reactions, crystallization processes, polymorph conversions, salt or co-crystal formation.
