LEGIC card-in-card solutions already allow the integration of LEGIC advant multi-applications into smart cards provided by third parties – such as contactless dual interface chip cards. In future, the further development of this technology also enables NFC mobile phones from afar, to serve as a payment medium or as an identification credential – for business and leisure industry.
The possibility to transfer LEGIC multi-applications „over-the-air“ (OTA) on the SIM card of an NFC mobile phone, generates new applications in the field of access control, e-payment or guest management. Venyon, a joint venture of Giesecke & Devrient and Nokia, is a leading provider of such OTA services.
An immediate authorisation to get access to a building or, for example, the spontaneous purchase of a cinema ticket via mobile phone, increases flexibility and convenience for end users and providers. Hence, the innovation represents an important milestone in the field of contactless smart card technology. After the successful introduction of LEGIC card-in-card solutions, the company again strengthen its position as an innovation leader.
LEGIC advant multi-applications can be securely stored and run at ProxSIM, the NFC-enabled SIM card product line by G&D.
Urs Andrin Lampe, Vice President Product Marketing & New Business of LEGIC, is convinced of the potentials of this innovation: “The possibility to activate an NFC mobile phone for LEGIC multi-applications via a mobile network represents a new dimension of contactless smart card systems in terms of flexibility and usability. In the future, this will allow new service concepts. From afar, access can be granted quickly and flexibly for temporary or mobile employees as well as for guests of leisure facilities. In the future, city cards with ticket functions and annual tickets for civic baths may be found on the mobile phone instead of the wallet.“
At SECURITY, LEGIC presents a demo version of the LEGIC over-the-air activation of NFC mobile phones.
