GE Security has sold and deployed two TSA-certified CTX 9000 DSi advanced technology explosives detection systems to support checked bag screening at Brussels South Charleroi Airports recently opened passenger terminal. GEs CTX 9000s at Brussels South Charleroi Airport provide real-time explosives detection and offer the potential for lower false alarm rates which can translate to lower operational costs as a result of a reduction in bag diversions for manual screening. As a result of its integration with the baggage handling system (BHS), bags can proceed smoothly from passenger check-in to sorting, speeding overall system throughput, which helps reduce the cost per bag and improve flow while expediting the screening process. Our airport becomes more accessible each year, and with the new terminal developed to host more flight activity and a growth in passenger volume, we wanted to show that we are serious in offering the highest standards for ease, comfort and security, said Denis van der Heyden, technical director, Société Wallone des Aéroports.
