Today, researchers in molecular biology and medicine focus on studying function and biology of individual cells as the ultimate unit of multicellular organisms.
With the innovative AmpliGrid system, sensitivity, efficiency and reproducibility are reliable constants for both single cell and ultra low volume amplification techniques.
Olympus has introduced a superior 1µl amplification platform based on a chemically structured microscope slide. Due to the two-dimensional layout of the AmpliGrid, single cells can easily be deposited to the slide surface, e.g. by a fluorescence activated cell sorter (FACS), micromanipulator or microdissection. Cells can be visualised and investigated prior to amplification by common microscopical techniques.
The AmpliGrid system is the key to obtaining perfect results with single cells or small number of cells. The approach opens a variety of applications like the analysis of circulating tumour cells, CD-classified cell populations or high sensitivity identity testing in forensics. A broad range of kits completes the AmpliGrid linecard giving the opportunity e.g. to analyse critical cell types or to perform multiplex assays.
The AmpliGrid system combined with the AmpliSpeed thermal cycler reduces the amplification reaction time up to 50% compared to conventional methods. In addition to manual sample application, the AmpliGrid platform is compatible with any kind of automated liquid handling system for high throughput screening (HTS) applications.
With the AmpliGrid/AmpliSpeed system, Olympus is setting a new standard for single cell assays. When we analyse a single cell, we mean just ONE single cell.
