Apart from small-batch production and one-offs , draw-wire sensors are now being increasingly integrated into products produced in high volumes. Not only is this attractive to the product manufacturer, who can equip his products for high volume manufacture with improved features, but also to the manufacturer of the measurement technology, who achieves higher production figures and therefore more economical manufacturing costs.
Measurement technology specialist Micro-Epsilon from Ortenburg understands the requirements of OEM customers. A dedicated range of products, the MK Series, has been specially developed for this type of high volume business. This series uses standard sensor technology which has been well proven over many years. However, despite this, they can be quickly and easily customised or modified. The distinctive difference from the standard draw-wire sensors is the housing, which in this case consists of plastic rather than metal. Due to the high quantities with OEM orders, the production costs can be reduced to a minimum, resulting in a specific, but economical solution for the customer. The MK Series therefore represents a genuine, low-cost range sensor for use in high volume production.
Through the recently developed MK77 sensors, applications requiring a measurement range of 2,100mm can now be realised at a very favourable price.
With this development, the MK77 is the latest version to be added to the company’s MK product range, with the existing MK30 and MK46. Now, for the first time, an OEM sensor is available with a measurement range of this magnitude. The MK77 is currently the most economical draw-wire sensor with a measurement range of 2,100mm. The scope of potential applications of OEM sensors from Micro-Epsilon has therefore expanded significantly.
