IER, which actively supports IATAs Simplifying the business programme, announced a comprehensive range of 2D barcode gate readers to support the air transportation industrys transition and evolution to 2D bar codes: IER 600 and IER 610.
The IER 600 is a flatbed 2D barcode gate reader while the IER 610 is a combined ATB and 2D barcode gate reader. With these two models, the company provides flexible solutions for airports and airlines which adopt directly 2D barcode boarding passes and for those who intend to continue to read ATB format as well as the new boarding pass standard.
It uses a unique lighting system that creates a reliable read in either low or high ambient lighting conditions from various types of printed media including standard size boarding passes, A4 (8.5 in x 11 in) home printed passes, or cell phone displays. It also uses a high performance CCD imager to read both 1D and 2D barcodes including the IATA compliant PDF417 as well as Aztec, Datamatrix and QR Codes.
A new electronic architecture based on a Linux operating system allows a simple, real-time monitoring and configuration either locally or remotely through a password protected web browser.
In addition to the fixed focus, omni-directional flatbed scanner for high speed 2D barcode reading, the new reader also includes a motorised ATB reader. It is the ideal gate reader to migrate smoothly towards 2D barcode.
