P.A.L.M. Microlaser Technologies, a 100% subsidiary of Carl Zeiss MicroImaging, is introducing with PALM CapturePlate 96 the microtiter plate to laser microdissection as a standard high throughput system for laboratory use. Up to 96 specimens isolated tissue areas or cells removed from a tissue sample can be taken from membrane-coated or directly from glass slides without any manual intermediary step. The specimen is obtained totally contamination-free through the use of the LMPC technology (Laser Microdissection and Pressure Catapulting) on PALM MicroBeam. In combination with the PALM RoboMover capture unit, the specimens are software-controlled and distributed precisely among the individual wells. In this way, higher specimen throughput is achieved in research institutes of the pharmaceutical industry, in the field of the life sciences or in the area of biomedicine.
