Hirschmann presents the new 9-port switch RS 40 at the Hanover Fair
The Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH, Neckartenzlingen, is presenting the new Gigabit-Ethernet- Switch RS 40 at the Hanover Fair (Hall 9, Booth F28). This switch which can be mounted on DIN rails has nine gigabit ports of which four are designed as combo-ports (RJ 45 / SFP). Nonblocking architecture ensures fast data transfer without bottlenecks. There is a choice of two software versions which offer different scopes of management, diagnostics and filter functions as well as different redundancy and security methods.
This makes the RS 40 particularly suitable for use in production networks with a large data volume or real time requirements.
This switch, which complies with all common industrial standards, supports 10/100/1000 BASE-TX. Since the combo-ports are equipped with SFP fiber modules, up to four of the total of nine ports can be used optionally for 100/1000 BASE-FX/SX/LX/LH. Since these modules can also be retrofitted at any time, the RS 40 offers a great degree of flexibility.
The switch can be used centrally in the switch cabinet and decentrally in the distribution box. It is designed for a temperature range of a maximum -40 to +70 degrees depending on the version. The fan-less cooling and a redundant 24/48 Volt power supply (AC/DC) contribute to the high operational reliability.
Redundancy methods such as HIPER Ring, Rapid Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation provide high network availability. The security mechanisms include an access control in accordance with IEEE 802.1x , IP and MAC port security as well as SNMP v3 and SSH. The operating state of the switch can be picked up centrally by an alarm contact. Detailed information can be displayed by a standard web browser. Another central management function is offered by the integrated SNMP interface which enables the use of a network management software such as Industrial HiVision for example. The switch has extensive status indicators for local diagnostics.
