Hirschmann Automation and Control, Neckartenzlingen/ Germany, has added the manageable Fast/Gigabit-Ethernet-Switch MACH 1000 to its product portfolio. This switch which meets the requirements of the IEC 61850 has a temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. Other features include a high vibration resistance and great immunity to electrostatic discharge and magnetic fields. The printed circuit boards can be coated with a special varnish (so-called conformal coating) to protect them against condensation. This makes the MACH 1000 particularly suitable for use under extreme ambient conditions such as in transformer stations in the electricity industry or in traffic automation.
The switch has two gigabit-uplinks (1000 BASE-TX) which are designed as combo-ports and can therefore be equipped optionally with SFP fiber modules (1000 BASE-FX/SX/LX/LH). The up to 26 Fast-Ethernet ports can be assembled individually by the modular principle for different plugs and cables.
Redundancy methods such as HIPER-Ring, Rapid Spanning Tree and Link Aggregation guarantee a high network availability. The security mechanisms include an access control in accordance with IEEE 802.1x , IP and MAC port security as well as SNMP v3 and SSH.
The fanless cooling and an optional redundant power supply contribute to the high operational reliability. The status of the switches can be picked up decentrally by signal contacts. Detailed information can be displayed by a standard Web browser. A further central management function is offered by the integrated SNMP interface which enables the use of a network management software for example.
