Micro-Epsilon is well known for innovative and high precision displacement measurements. These also include the established draw-wire sensors in the wireSENSOR series which are available in many sizes, shapes and versions. The measurement ranges can be individually selected in many subdivisions between 50 and 50,000 mm. A special feature here is the compact installation size of the sensor for the respective measurement range. For example, for the smallest model the sensor diameter is only 30 mm for a 750 mm measurement range. There are many varied analog and digital outputs available, as well as housings in plastic or aluminum. Because of precision components are used exclusively in the construction, the sensors are characterized by an above average service life.
Probably the most spectacular application example occurred with the Ariane launcher rocket. Here, during the deployment of satellites and on obtaining a safe distance, the wireSENSOR is responsible for triggering the signal for the operation of the satellite's own drive. Other fields of application, although less spectacular, can be found in the lift measurement of industrial trucks and conveyors or in the incline and tilting of patient couches. Draw-wire sensors are used anywhere where distances and tilts are measured with contact.
Many companies depend on Micro-Epsilon and integrate the wireSENSOR as an OEM product into the most varied applications.
