GIT – 50 years of leadership in the lab

In October, we at GIT VERLAG celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ‘GIT Labor-Fachzeitschrift’ journal. Back in 1956, Ernst H. W. Giebeler established the ‘Glas-Instrumenten-Technik’ journal for practitioners in the laboratory. From its very inception, the publication conveyed current trends, the latest technologies and exiting background information on the broad spectrum of laboratory technology. The journal has since supported all those involved – from those on the bench to the decision-maker – in overcoming the daily challenges of the laboratory.

The ‘GIT Labor-Fachzeitschrift’ formed the cornerstone for the foundation of GIT VERLAG in Darmstadt in 1969, which today, with its staff of 100, publishes 40 titles for the biotechnology, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, automation technology and process technology sectors. These include titles such as ‘CHEManager’, ’Management & Krankenhaus’, ’GIT Sicherheit + Management’, ’BIOforum’ and ’MessTec & Automation’.

The editorial concept of the‘GIT Labor-Fachzeitschrift’ is characterized by three components: high quality contributions from opinion-leaders, news on current trends and developments in the respective fields and application-oriented background information. Each publication offers its own platform for researchers and users, for suppliers and consumers. The print titles are supplemented with the industry portal www.pro-4-pro.com, as well as direct mail, reprint and eMagazine solutions.

The practical orientation of the ‘GIT Labor-Fachzeitschrift’ is unique in its reporting and presentation of new technologies. The goal was and still is to provide the reader with practical interdisciplinary information on the broad spectrum of analytics and laboratory technology and to support their work in the lab by presenting potential solutions. Whether in high performance or routine research, GIT shows how to solve daily problems in the lab and to optimise processes. This ultimately saves the reader time and money – and that is what counts today – in industry and science alike.
