Exceptionally low-level fluorescence and TIRF images can now be captured more easily than before thanks to the launch of the new Nikon EMCCD Monochrome Digital Camera (DQC-FS). Designed specifically to address the need for a digital camera dedicated to such applications, the camera achieves single-photon detection sensitivity typical of intensified or electron-bombarded CCDs but at a much lower cost. It also offers higher resolution than is characterised by conventional intensified CCDs. This high-quality digital camera adds to the companys expanding imaging innovation portfolio by amplifying low-light-level signals above the CCD read noise by employing unique electron multiplying CCD technology. This makes it ideal for high speed and high sensitivity applications.
