FRABA POSITAL's new MAGNETOCODE series of absolute rotary encoders uses an innovative method to determine position values: their single-turn sensor is based on an integrated Hall circuit which provides a maximum resolution of 12 Bit. This method allows a robust construction and compact dimensions, and it also considerably reduces costs – MCD encoders are 20% cheaper than comparable optoelectronic devices. Due to the magnetic technology, the sensor is resistant against rough environmental conditions like humidity, temperature and vibrations. The encoders are available with a connector or a cable exit. They are IP65 protected and come in blind hollow or solid shaft versions. The encoders are equipped with a CANopen interface which enables integration into automation applications. They feature three operating modes (Cyclic, Polled and Sync Mode) with an adjustable data transfer rate between 20 kBaud and 1 MBaud. The encoders are parameterized and configured via the CANbus. Counting direction, preset value and resolution per revolution as well as two limit switch positions are freely programmable. All parameter can be stored in the encoder's non-volatile memory.
