With the new W100L series, SICK has supplemented its range of efficient miniature photoelectric switches with reasonably priced and powerful laser sensors. Long ranges or scanning distances, the detection of small objects, and high switching frequencies of up to 2 KHz permit the solution of demanding tasks even in the limited space available in todays increasingly compact machines. The W100L in its miniature housing is one of the smallest series of photoelectric switches on the market. The WS/WE100L through-beam photoelectric switch, in eye-safe laser protection class 1, is suitable for distances of up to 35 m. The WL100L reflex system reaches 12 m and, like the WT100L photoelectric proximity switch with its scanning distance of 450 mm, the laser transmitters are in protection class 2 harmless in practical use. Their special plus point is the small, easily visible, laser light spot on the object, allowing simple alignment of the sensors during installation, as well as the detection of small objects.Multiple flexibilityBecause the devices in the W100L series offer differing features, they are just as convincing in standard applications as in high-end applications. The high switching frequency of 2 KHz permits reliable detection of the smallest of objects or features, even in high speed processes. The miniature housing requires little installation space, while the optional accessories also allow adaptation to the most varied of mounting situations. In order to keep the number of variants requiring storage as low as possible, output can be switched between light-switching and dark-switching by means of a rotary switch.Mini-housing in vogueWith its miniature housing and interesting performance data, the W100L takes into account the developmental and technological trend towards increasingly compact machines. This opens up numerous areas of application for the series in the most varied of machine and plant construction segments.
