Viscosity Detection The Better Way

Viscosity detection is nowadays standard in Polymer Characterization via GPC. The advantages of this technique both as a single source of information as well as combined with a light scattering detector, are well proven and, because of the universal calibration, have found a wide range of applications. Most detectors available on the market however, even the newer ones, are based on a design created in the seventies and cannot therefore perform at the level required and achievable by modern applications. WGE Dr. Bures followed a slightly different design concept which led to an own patent and to a Viscosity Detector with unsurpassed performance. The ETA-20xx viscometer family offers higher sensitivity (i.e. detection of a Polystyrene with MW 580 g/mol at a concentration of only 1 mg/ml), lower band broadening, which makes a fancy but questionable software correction unnecessary, and highest possible reliability and easy of use. WGE Dr. Bures was also first in implementing an automatic safety system to keep the highly sensitive pressure transducers from damages by overpressure. All members of the family, ETA-2010 single Viscometer or ETA-2020 combined Viscometer Refractive Index detector, provide outstanding performance in all solvents commonly used in GPC, with no need of adaptation of any kind to the number of columns used or measurement duration and with regulated temperature between room- and 80°C. A high temperature version (ETA-2010HT) for applications up to 150°C is also available.
