Electronic products out of the printing machine

PolyIC recently demonstrated the first organic RFID (radio frequency identification) tags at the 13.56 MHz standard. Production processes for this technology have to be further optimized and adapted to reach the goal of mass production. The objective is to produce low-priced products in high quality and volumes. To achieve this, mass volume printing processes and corresponding test practices will be used. A standard film made of polyester (PET) is uses as substrate. To print a functioning transistor, an organic semiconductor (e.g. PHT - polythiophene) and insulator is needed. Printed electronic applications have an enormous market potential.
